CAD Technician

Primary Objectives:

Carry out required CAD design drawing and production to a consistent quality and standard to agreed delivery deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out CAD drawing work, liaising with the director and lead engineer as necessary.
  • Liaise with external design teams as necessary.
  • Complete drawing issue sheet on behalf of engineers as required.
  • Develop and maintain CAD standards protocol and layering standards.
  • Assist with drawing collation and issue timelines as directed.
  • Assist the offices or wider company’s CAD Manager or Senior Technicians/Coordinators as appropriate where required.
  • Produce Structural Steel, Concrete, etc Drawings.
  • Assist with Project Archiving at end of a Project Completion.
  • Assist in ensuring each project by being aware of fees and hours available for draughting services and effective management of other technicians (where appropriate). Report potential financial loss, time issues operational difficulties to the Group Leader or Director at earliest possible stage.
  • Be aware of and help contribute to the successful delivery of the Project Engineers KPIs that are undertaken.
  • Where appropriate, manage projects designated to direct reports, ensuring timeliness, quality and profitability objectives all met or exceeded. Demonstration of business efficiencies at every opportunity.
  • Implement Company Health and Safety and ensure all work complies with applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Accurately complete timesheets, assist with invoices and other reporting requirements and submit in accordance with reporting formats and deadlines.
  • Maintain personal CPD and development plans.
  • Continuous adoption of all Civil and Structural engineering rules and regulations, endeavouring to ensure protection of the Companies reputation and Professional Indemnity at all times.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • 5 years’ experience – Competent CAD.
  • Educational qualifications to a degree level or equivalent are desired.
  • Understanding and use of 3D CAD.
  • Be clear, concise, professional and personable when communicating with clients, colleagues and suppliers.
  • Provide help and support to the team in the achievement of project demands and deadlines.
  • Experience in the same or similar position is desired.
  • Competency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.
  • The ability to project a positive and professional attitude at all times.
  • Educational qualifications to a degree level or equivalent are desired.
  • Good knowledge and use of appropriate project and design analysis software.
  • Personable and a ‘can do’ attitude with resource management experience.
  • To be able to work as part as a team and collaboratively and co-operatively.
